Curriculum
Our 2-year curriculum, by a graduate electronics engineer and internationally certified trainer, covers the following:
- Drawing for animation:
- We help you improve your drawing skill so that it benefits your animation abilities
- Introduction to animation:
- Traditional animation (2D animation is about creating the illusion of movement (even life) through a rapid display of a sequence of images. We spend a short while establishing this foundation
- 3D Computer Animation:
- 3D Space (how not to lose yourself in space)
- Object modeling and transformations
- Mesh modeling (changing the internals of an object)
- Text, curves and paths
- Materials (basic and nodes-based)
- Textures
- UV Mapping (mapping picture-based textures onto objects)
- Lighting
- Rendering (including multi-pass)
- Compositing (basic and nodes-based)
- Animation
- Character Animation:
- Character drawing
- Rigging
- Morphing (e.g. changing expressions)
- Character development
- Expression
- The 12 animation principles
- Sound: editing, mixing and synchronisation
- Script writing (any movie – animated or not – is only as good as the story
- Story boarding
- Production pipeline: planning, managing, executing
- Blue/green screen
- Match moving (composting video footage with 3D computer graphics)

- Show time! Preparing your showreel
You will be trained in the following software: Blender and a selection of Maya, Combustion and Adobe Premiere
